MultiPortal Alpha release is finally here!

Published On: April 12, 2024 | Categories:  New Release

We’re super pleased to announce that the MultiPortal Alpha is now available for download and testing!

First things first, to gain access to the Alpha release please head to our website and register to download it at multiportal.io

Once you’re done with that, feel free to explore our helpful tutorial videos to guide you through our Alpha release:

Even though this is the Alpha version, you’ll have access to the following functionality for testing within your environments:

  • Support for multiple Proxmox environments: If you run multiple different data centres across different geographic locations, you can use MultiPortal as an overlay to present resources to your tenants and allow them to centrally manage their workloads. Each Proxmox environment is considered a “Data Center” within MultiPortal.

  • Storage Policy management: For each Data Center (Proxmox environment), you can create Storage Policies and add the relevant underlying storage. MultiPortal will then allow tenants to choose which Storage Policy they want their VMs disks created on and automatically manage the placement based on the free space of the underlying storage.

  • Network Management: Service Providers can create External Networks mapped to VLANs, and Tenants can create Internal Networks that leverage Proxmox SDN/VXLAN.

  • Tenant Management: Service Providers can create Resellers, Tenants, and Virtual Data Centers. Resellers can manage their Sub Tenants and associated Virtual Data Centers, and Tenants themselves can manage any workloads within their Virtual Data Centers.

  • User Management: Local user management is currently available for Service Provider, Reseller, and Tenant levels. Service Providers or Resellers with suitable permissions can “impersonate” users of lower tiers for troubleshooting purposes as well.

  • Virtual Machine Management: A lot of functionality is available, such as VM creation, editing, and performance monitoring. Some UI improvements are ongoing, but for now, we’re focusing on functionality over aesthetics.

  • Catalogue Management: Service Providers can create VM Templates available publicly to all tenants within a Data Center, while Tenants can create and manage their private catalogues.

  • Tenant Quota Management: This is done through “Virtual Data Centers,” which can be created as either Allocation or PAYG. PAYG metering isn’t available within the Alpha release, but the intention is to make this available via the API and also show usage within the interface.

We’d love to hear your feedback though, if there are things you’d like to see included or improved please let us know!

There is also a feedback tool built into the Alpha, please use this if you find any bugs or have feature requests.
